www.altfeld.com/mastery – This video clip was recorded at the FLIRTOPIA seminar in 2000, exploring NLP for flirting purposes. The course was taught by Jonathan Altfeld, Peta Heskell, and Anne Teachworth. In this clip, taken as an excerpt from the FLIRTOPIA dvd-set, NLP Trainer Jonathan Altfeld is training the use of “pattern interrupts” in social situations. Enjoy!
Also, be clear I’m not suggesting using this to convince someone to make a choice that ISN’T useful to them (good luck with that, anyway). But snap judgements can be undone, or reversed, using this technique. Let’s say someone made a choice to buy a lower-quality product from your competitor, instead of your higher quality product, just because they’ve bought from them before. Confusion could help lead them to be willing to re-think such a choice.
Often times people will make snap decisions that aren’t useful to us — and more importantly come from a place of misinformation or less-than-useful conclusions. In such circumstances, getting them to pay attention long enough for us to give them better information would help tilt their decision in a different direction. So confusion is an incredibly useful emotional influence tool… to help them doubt their snap decision, long enough to re-think their choice.
Whats the purpose of confusing someone?
Nice work as ever JA!
