Anyways, man, I’ve just been honest. I knew you could never be satisfied when it comes to the christian faith, so indeed debating believs is and has always been a failboat floating in circles and it’s pretty tiring.
Believe what you want to believe.
Have a good.
No God’s standard is not higher than my standard and if you place you’re standard below God’s then you’re a very immoral person. I’m against slavery murder/killing, rape, incest, kidnapping etc in ALL instances. God has endorsed such acts when it was convenient to do so. The Bible clearly illustrates this so called God’s moral relativism. No Christian can claim that objective morality exists and follow this God as well. It’s a self refuting idea.
So let me get this straight, from your little comment about 72 virgins, we can assume that you believe that killing in God’s name is immoral if you’re a Muslim, but if you’re killing in God’s name and you’re a Christian or Jewish then thats a “gray” area but you trust that God was right?
What a hypocrite you are! You’ve just blown that myth of Christian objective “morality” completely to pieces. You aren’t against killing at all, just who is to be killed. You should be ashamed of yourself.
I’d like to add that there might be christians who could give you the answer you need. I’m sorry that I do not feel capable of that though. Or at least not yet. Just being honest.
Also I’d like to mention that I can see where you’re coming from, those were some of my stumbling blocks too you know.
Personally it helped me that I realized that Gods standard > my standard. This might sound cheap to you, it means alot to me though. It’s the truth to me.
@jefmaze
I’m not going to speak on gods behalf and try to explain why he does things the way he does them. I am certain that he is righteous by his holy standard though.
Bottom line is if you want to believe god is evil or such then believe that, he gives you all the freedom to choose I guess. I see the whole story in another light though.
And since you’re not a christian you probably wont be satisfied with my answer but once again, you’re not going to make me speak on gods behalf.
You brought up the point that killing was wrong because God said that killing was wrong. I’m trying to get you to clarify that statement. Something you now seem very reluctant to do knowing that God had ordered Moses and Joshua to do just that . Now lets try this again. If killing is wrong then was it moral or immoral for God to order Moses and Joshua to kill whole groups of people, both combatant and non combatant alike? Men women and children killed on gods orders? Is that moral?
@jefmaze
I’m not rejecting the God of the old testament. I’m trying to live by what Jesus (God in the Flesh) taught. Anyways… how many more questions do you have? Where is this going. Round and round?
I will always believe in god you can’t change my mind, I can’t change yours… life goes on for both of us.
If you need some radical believer that you can argue with for years go look for someone else please.
Have a good.
Islam has nothing to do with what I’m asking you.
Are you rejecting the God of Old Testament ? The God who commanded Moses and Joshua to kill for him? You said that the bible instructs you not to kill but we have many exceptions to that rule throughout the Bible. Is the Bible practicing moral relativism?
@jefmaze
Jesus told us to love even our enemy in the new testament and to turn the other cheek.
Also there are not 7x virgins waiting for us in heaven or such *cough*.
Have you ever read the accounts of Josuha in the Bible? Moses? God told them to kill and they obeyed. They killed men women and children , they were told to rip open pregnant women’s bellies to make sure that ALL would not survive. Maybe you should read your bible.
Amen.
How are we insignificant? We are the most complex and sophisticated things in the universe and we are born of universal processes.I think that makes us kind of special and to identify this as profoundly significant is the key to us coming of age.The universe may well be eternal, but to date, we are the greatest thing in it. Mythical doctrine won’t help you with this -the rational Human mind is the only thing that can.
The bible tells us not to kill people, not even our enemies. People who claim they actually hear the voice of god are questionable in my humble opinion.
Be that as it may , people with large egos don’t validate the existence of a god.
Good to know that you won’t be killing anyone but tell me this, would you if you thought God asked you to? Before you say “he wouldn’t do that” please note there is ample evidence in the Bible to prove that he’s done just that.
After all you say you believe things without evidence. Would you believe it if someone told you that God told them that you should kill someone? Wouldn’t you require evidence?
@jefmaze
Well, I’ve met alot of people with alot of self esteem. They are not the people I’d love to be around with to be honest. People sometimes think they’re gods, yet they’re pretty much rock bottom if it comes to morals or such.
Also I won’t be going around killing people thinking they’re just dirt if you are scared of such.
Yes I believe in god with no so called “evidence”. To me it’s real though. That’s where my faith comes into play.
Christian theology and it’s world view destroys the self esteem of people. It obviously has done damage to yours. It tears people down in an attempt to infantilize them to an imaginary God. How many times have we heard christians say, ” I’m nothing without god” just like you have. Christianity hates man, it sees humanity as worthless and dirty and it instills these beliefs on it’s adherents. You are the perfect example. You believe this stuff without evidence.
Ludwigs ‘horses’ apparently do not have the spirit of God if they think God is a horse.
Love for the creator is the true beleivers driving force
Although it may seem to you that man has all the great abilities to build cities and destroy planets, the ability to travel in time or travel at a speed beyond comprehension, yet man is unable to create the idea of eternity. Eternity is not within the confines of man’s intelligence. The reason for that is the fact that anything that we see and experience has a beginning and an end. The only place in the universe that testifies of eternity is the Bible.
One must stop for a moment and think as to what are man’s abilities and the significance of man in a universe beyond measure. Once man identifies his own insignificance, then it becomes clear that there would have to be something greater than man.
Of course the bible isn’t so careless as to directly say we are Gods. The point, best made by Ludwig Feuerbach, is that Man has made his God in his own image. “If horses had hands they would draw their Gods as horses”
@ tomsega:
Have you actually ever read AND understood the bible? The bible never says we’re gods. It says we’re sinners and thus only saved through Jesus.
Thank you so much for saying what we all already know inside but need defined. Too bad some would choose rather believe a lie than believe the truth – which you so clearly state here. Thanks again.
