The idea is to be able to help ourselves first, then be selfless if we so choose. Otherwise causing trouble with greatest selfless intention to help others is still causing trouble.
I know its a paradox. The way I’m starting to see it, I wouldn’t be really committed to give to other people if I don’t feel whole and complete in myself. To take it to the extreme, let’s say you were homeless starting tomorrow. Would you even have the bandwidth to worry about giving to other ppl?

Also he’s buying into the myth that as soon as you find a mate you will become completely happy and have a perfect life.
If you need a woman in a needy way, having nothing to OFFER TO her (since you feel and are empty) you will be an emotional leech. Like a boy looking to be mothered. Women don’t want a relationship with a boy, but with a man who has something to offer and powerful emotional strength.
