Madhavi & Govind spring a surprise on them by coming to their house & they suggest Shyam keeps a maid to help Savitri in doing her domestic chores. In fact, when Govind offers to send someone from his office but Shyam insists on paying his salary as he feels indebted to Govind already for sponsoring their plush flat. In college, Manasi drops in to meet him & is thrilled to learn of Savitri’s pregnancy. Later that night, she visits their place to congratulate Savitri & joins them for dinner along with Madhavi & Govind. When Savitri seeks her help to find a job for Sushma, she promises to do so but adds that Shyam is dead against her even thinking of working. A battle royal ensues between the males & females on the issue of women being financially independent resulting in Shyam abruptly leaving the dining table in a huff. Though a pregnant Sushma has already found a job Vishal isn’t in favour of her working as he has launched his own theatre company. Yet, Sushma stuns him by declaring she plans to abort her baby as they just can’t afford another child. That evening, Savitri & Shyam visit Shanta & her husband Kanti but are shocked to meet her ‘mod’ teenage sons Chetan & Ketan.
