His ancestors who appear in his dream are the creations of his own guilty conscience. Duryodhan was as much a son of his wife Gandhari as his own. But Gandhari is one of the strongest and noblest characters in the epic. She falsifies the common belief that women, especially as mothers, are weaker than men.
